It’s been recommended to me to downgrade my theme to 1.0.7 to fix some bugs. I’ve been suspecting that might fix my problems, but can someone tell me how to do that? I found a link to download it to my downloads area on my Mac, but I don’t know how to get the download physically on my site.

Of course, before trying any of this, BACKUP YOUR WORDPRESS INSTALLATION!!!

    In this post:

    http://www.onedesigns.com/support/topic/update-1-0-8-problems

cklosowski has come up with a plugin that seems to fix most of the issues. You can download the plugin here:

    http://www.kungfugrep.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/ck-pinboard-js-fix.zip

Once you have downloaded the plugin, there are two ways to activate it. You can go to Plugins < Add New < Upload

browse to the zipped folder on your computer, select it, then click Install Now… then activate it.

Or, if you are familiar with FTP, you can unzip the downloaded zip folder and upload the folder inside the unzipped folder into:

    wp-contents < Plugins

You should then be able to activate it from the Plugin screen.

If you have 1.0.7 already, and you would prefer to downgrade, it works about the same way (only different 😉 )

Assuming it is in the form of a zipped folder, go to:

Appearance < Themes < Install Themes < Upload

browse to the zipped folder and select it, then click Install Now… then activate it.

By FTP, unzip the folder, and install the folder with the theme in it into :

    wp-content < Themes

(note: you do not want the theme version to be part of the folder name, just "pinboard")

This will overwrite the current (1.0.8) Pinboard theme.

Wow. Thank you for your detailed explanation. Unfortunately, downloading the plugin did not work. I got this message:

Installing Plugin from uploaded file: ck-pinboard-js-fix.php
    Unpacking the package…

The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

I also tried pasting the code from the file into CSS. That didn’t seem to do anything.

I’m not familiar with FTP . . . so not sure what to do from this point.

I also attempted to download the old version. From your tutorial on how to upload that plugin I did the same with the them. When I hit upload I can find the Pinboard folder, but when I open it there are several php files to choose from. Is there one that includes the entire theme, or am I supposed to download each one individually or am I doing the wrong thing entirely?

    I appreciate your help. Thanks.

It sounds like you are trying to upload unzipped folders. When you downloaded the plugin that fixes 1.0.8 it is a zipped folder. You do not want to unzip it and upload the php file, you want to upload the zipped folder that it came in just the way it is.

The same thing with the theme folder. The unzipped pinboard folder contains several folders and quite a few php files. That folder needs to be zipped before it can be uploaded as a theme.

On a Mac, you can select the folder and and choose File > Compress; or Control-click it and choose Compress from the shortcut menu; or choose Compress from the Action menu in the Finder window (On Windows, right click the folder and choose Send To < Compressed (Zipped) Folder).

Then select the zipped folder to upload as a theme.

Well, okay. After a lot of messing around, I finally got it to install successfully. However, the main problem I needed resolved, which was getting rid of the gaps between tiled posts in the grid, is still there.

At the moment I’m thinking I’m not going to create a header that stretches across the top, as originally asked in this thread, although eventually I might. But do you have any idea how I can fix my problem with my grid? Here’s a link. http://blissfulmiss.com In the far left column, there’s a big gap between the first two posts vertically. I’ve deleted and added posts, changed the setting so the photos are all the same size, but there’s always a gap somewhere.

Also, I have the layout set to 4 columns, and it’s only showing 3, one of which is the sidebar where I currently have an ad.

    Okay PCch . . . I DID IT!!!

I feel so smart because of you. I figured out how to download 1.0.7. and it fixed my grid problem. SWEET!

I’m still a bit confused why I have it set to 4 columns and only see 3, but I can live with that. At least for now.

Thanks so much for all your help.
