Im operating site safariblog.com/wp and using Pinboard.

The slider is currently running on the “Home” category menu at the top. Is it possible to have a seperate slider linked to each category in the top menu(Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania etc.)?

I imagine it would be possible… please advise.

    Hi All,

I’m interested in this option of a site-wide slider witin the theme too. I grabbed the slider code from landing page template and added it to single.php but it currently results in only the first slide of the series (i.e. a static image) appearing on each page.

A Slider connected to categories would be ideal. Am i right in thinking that this needs modification of archive.php from the main WP files ?

    My site is http://shplive.tv/wp/
    Cheers

@ Hypermedia. Care to explain the steps you took to get the static image to display on your page? What code did you take and where did you relocate it to… the more specific the better. I am learning to tinker and would like to learn as much as possible about our mutual issue.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey gred78,

Bear in mind that this does not result in a working slider, so its the blind leading the blind here ! – but it’s half way there!

I made a child theme to do this, so I can make my mods and not wreck Pinboard or other WP pages.

If you open up template-landing-page.php (I use TextWrangler on the Mac)
    You’ll see:

Pasted that into single.php to get the result you see on the site right now. What I actually want is for the slider to work, but it grabs only the first slide in the current rotation. Seems like it might lack some assets to work properly, but I’ll keep on tinkering with it.

So I copied the “slider” code and pasted it at the base of the “Main Index Template”. It shows the slider at the bottom of the template… but only on the home category page and on the category pages with “sticky” posts… the tinkering continues.

If anyone knows how to do it and save me a few hours of my life that would be great.

OK, the forum strips out the code portion of my message, so let’s try this:

If you open up template-landing-page.php (I use TextWrangler on the Mac)

Did anyone figure this out? I’ve seen one Minimatica tutorial website where this has been done, but they did not explain how they did it in the tutorial of how to use Minimatica. I have looked all over the internet to no avail.
