Changing slider controls background when collapsed navigation

Hello there!
I have almost finished a nice site from a pinboard theme, just missing one thing:
when accessing from a mobile device, the pref, next, pause buttons of the slider appear in a white stripe below the slider.
Been trying to change this color to black for years, but can achieve it.
The css inspector and firebug, both tell me this white area is part of the slider itself, but changing slider background color to black doesn’t seem to fix the thing…
Can somebody point to the right css tag?
