Featured Images WAY too Big – Unticking "hard crop thumbnails" does NOT work :-(

My problem is that the image I set as features images show up as ENORMOUS on the first page (home) before each post. I would like them to just be the size of the original image I upload, not a enlarged size. As it is, it takes up the entire page! :-/

I even tried re-sizing it and re-uploading it…but now it is just as enormous, but with fuzzier quality.

I unchecked the “hard crop” box, saved it, updated my post…nothing. Please help with this. If it keeps on being a problem, I’ll just have to find another theme, which would be sad
